Murder Mystery FAQ

How many people do I need for a murder mystery event? Murder mystery shows work for a wide range of group sizes. The Oxymorons have performed for intimate groups of 10-20 and large corporate events of 100 or more. Get in touch and we'll recommend the right format for your headcount.

How long does a murder mystery dinner show last? Most murder mystery events run 90 minutes to two hours, though we can adapt the format to fit your event schedule. We'll work with you during the planning process to find the right length for your group.

What murder mystery themes do you offer? We currently offer four themed shows: 80s Prom, Deadly Wedding, Speakeasy Heist, and Killer Spies. We're also open to custom themes for an additional fee— just ask.

Do guests need to dress up or participate? Costumes are encouraged but never required. Audience participation is built into the show, but nobody gets put on the spot in an uncomfortable way. We keep it fun for everyone, including the introverts in the crowd.

How far in advance should I book a murder mystery? Our weekends fill up fast, especially in the fall and around the holidays. We recommend reaching out at least 4 to 6 weeks in advance, though we'll always try to accommodate shorter timelines when possible.

Do you travel outside of Pennsylvania? Yes. We regularly perform in New Jersey, Maryland, Delaware, D.C., and New York, and we're open to other locations. Travel fees may apply depending on distance.

How much does a murder mystery cost? Pricing depends on group size, location, and event format. Contact us for a free, no-obligation quote — we're flexible on budget and happy to find something that works for you.

Improv and Game Show FAQ

What types of entertainment does the Oxymorons offer? We perform murder mystery dinners, short-form improv comedy in the style of Whose Line Is It Anyway, and game shows modeled after Family Feud and Minute to Win It. We also provide emcee and hosting services for corporate and private events.

Are you available for corporate events? Yes — corporate events are one of our specialties. We've performed for association conferences, company holiday parties, team building events, orientation programs, and executive retreats. Our shows are clean (or as clean as you want it!), professional, and adaptable to your agenda. Nonprofit events work well, too!

How do I get a quote? Use our contact form or reach out directly. We respond quickly and will ask a few questions about your event to put together the right recommendation and a fair price.

Are your shows appropriate for all ages? Our public shows are geared toward adult audiences, but private and corporate events can be fully customized for any crowd — including all-ages events, school functions, and bar/bat mitzvahs. Just let us know your audience when you reach out.
